Farmers Insurance Scholarship

28 March, 2011 (00:04) | Farmers Insurance Scholarship | By: Carlo Evanson

Insurance ScholarshipFarmers Insurance Group (FIG) is one of the largest sponsors of college scholarships nationwide, and one of the easiest scholarships to obtain for those students strapped for cash.

Why Apply for a Scholarship?

Let’s face it; getting a college education is an expensive process!  Depending on the college that you choose to attend, tuition alone can cost anywhere from $10,000 per year to $40,000 per year.  Add to that the cost of college textbooks, room and board, cafeteria charges and the like, and the cost of college can be prohibitively expensive.

While there are plenty of loan options available (both through individual colleges and universities, but through Federal loan programs as well, there is still a sizeable amount of money that students and their parents have to find in order to enroll in a college or university.

To help defray these costs, many organizations, foundations and states as well as individual colleges and universities offer a variety of scholarship programs based on everything from ethnicity to financial need to academic achievement, demonstrated leadership skills and talents such as musicianship or sports talent.  One of the most popular scholarship programs available, and one that is available to the broadest range of students, is offered by the Farmers Insurance Group (FIG).

About the Farmers Insurance Group (FIG)

Farmers Insurance Group (FIG) was founded in 1928 with one insurance company, and has expanded to include an entire list of insurance companies that cover everything from life and health to farm equipment and car insurance.  As one of the country’s largest insurance groups, Farmers Insurance Group is dedicated to the continuing education of students and as such, they have become one of the largest supporters of education through a variety of scholarship and grant programs.

About the Farmers Insurance Scholarship

The Farmers Insurance Scholarship is probably one of the easiest scholarships to obtain.  It is open to those undergraduate students with a 2.75 G.P.A. who have taken at least 30 credit hours of college classes.  This means that while the scholarship is not available for freshmen, it is open for college sophomores, juniors and seniors.  Awards are always $500 per student, and are college specific, so they must be applied for through your college’s financial aid office.

This scholarship is not guaranteed, but 1,000 scholarships of $500 each are awarded every year and monies can be used at any college or university in the United States, so it is to your benefit to apply.  Who knows, you may be able to claim one of their 1,000 awards and make paying for your college education just a bit more affordable!
